New Proposals for Olympia
16/06/2010

EC Properties Ltd has just held an exhibition to unveil its proposals to refurbish and improve the Olympia Exhibition and Conference Centre. The exhibition took place at Olympia on Thursday 10th June and Saturday 12th June and formed part of the Centre’s consultation before it submits proposals for planning permission and listed building consent to the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham in early July 2010.
42 local residents attended the exhibition, including 3 local councillors and members of local amenity groups including the Hammersmith Society, the Hammersmith Historical Society and local residents associations. A class and teachers from Avonmore Primary School also visited to meet the architects and staff from the project.
The exhibition contained plans for a series of refurbishments and enhancements to Olympia, which will keep the fabric of the historic buildings, but improve the internal space and make the building easier to access for the public. The proposals that will be submitted to the council relate to the West Hall, Pillar Hall and the ground floor of Olympia 2. Project staff were on hand to answer any questions and people living in the area were given the opportunity to fill out comment cards.

An improved and refurbished venue will sustain and preserve the business for the long term, supporting the local economy by attracting new investment and creating new jobs. It will also ensure that Olympia remains a world class venue by creating a smarter, more effective exhibition space without significant additional impact on the local community.
