Housing Purchase Options for Local Residents
04/07/2010
I believe that since the new project with have the largest sustained impact on inhabitants on the border roads to this project that these residents should have the right to reserve a property on the development at a discounted rate should they wish to move as it takes shape.
This offer must be available in writing for interested border road residents.

@Editor thanks for the alert about your reply - extremely useful. Yes I’d be interested in representing local residents. I’m signed up for the news letter so should get warning, but feeel free to send a reminder closer to the time.
Not surprised you heard similar suggestions at the drop-in sessions, I think a discount scheme would be popular. It would also provide good press showing the developers are taking good care of those most affected by the redevelopment.

Hi Gordon, thanks for the hint - I’ll make sure all users are notified of a reply from now on.
Glad you found the drop-in sessions useful - perhaps you’d like to represent local residents at our Topic Groups in the autumn.
We did have similar suggestions about discounted rates on property in the development for people who live in the area at our drop-in sessions and we will be looking at the possibility of some kind of offer for locals.
Please feel free to post more comments on any other aspect of the Earls Court Project and we’ll get back to you right away.

Hi there, apologies for the slow response - there is no auto-alert system for the site which lets you know a reply has been posted to your question so I only noticed this by chance. (hint?)
From the conversations I had at previous meetings I do believe residents would be interested in deals for a property on the new development, but obviously more formal plans will need to be seen first and the offers themselves need to be enticing enough to firm things up.
As you suggested I did attend the walk in sessions and found them extremely beneficial. I would be happy to be involved in more resident consultancy.
Feel free to talk more to me about this or any other factors. I can be contacted at: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
Many thanks.

Thanks for your comment, Flavia, and yes we recognise that it will be important to minimise disturbance to people living in the surrounding streets once development starts. We’ve already spoken to lots of local residents and know that they’re passionate about where they live.
We’d like the Earls Court Project to benefit everyone living in the area by providing jobs, housing, better shops and cultural attractions. We’ll take your suggestion of discounts on property into consideration - why don’t you come to our next drop-in sessions in September / October to discuss this in more detail? We’ll be posting details on this website and in our newsletters which you can subscribe to via the My Account page.

@Editor
I believe the response would be very positive from local residents. Residents of this area of London like to live here and would like to be provided with an opportunity to reserve a property in the new development at a discounted price. At the end of the day they will be the most affected during the period of development.

That’s an interesting idea, Gordon. We’d certainly like to find ways to make the new development fully integrated into the existing communities in the area. Whether we could do this in the way you suggest is something we probably need to look at in a bit more detail.
Do you think a lot of residents in the neighbouring area would be interested in buying property in the development?
By the way, we have a drop-in session at the Holiday Inn Express on North End Road tonight, and at Earls Court exhibition centre tomorrow - just click onto the Professional Team Drop-in Sessions link opposite for details of where and when. Please feel free to drop by and we can discuss your idea some more.
