Feature on the masterplanner competition
23/06/2010

An exclusive, 6-page feature on the masterplanner competition for the Earls Court Project has been published in the July issue of Architectural Review.
Submissions from all six architectural practices that entered the competition are covered in the story, and Planning and Development Director Richard Powell was enthusiastic about all of them: “We were extremely impressed. They were all great and really different, and one presentation at least was magical”.
The piece focuses on the opportunity and challenges presented by the site and how Terry Farrell and Partners’ winning proposal fits in well with the Mayor’s London Plan and the vision behind the Earls Court Project.
Sir Terry Farrell’s approach to masterplanning is explored, as well as the process of creating a final masterplan before submission in the summer of 2011. He states “This sort of project will only succeed if you can find a way where there is something for everybody”.
